How To Prepare Your Child For the First Day of School?
For many kids, it has never been easy to head back to school after a summer of fun, even if they’re excited to meet new friends and playmates. This is especially the case for the children who are going to school for the first time.
Just look at this adorable little girl, she couldn’t be more thrilled to be heading for school in her fabulous little outfit, apparently eager and excited to get on the school bus and get to the school. But at the end of the day, after hours of introductions and schedules and rules, she emerges from the bus with the shell-shocked look of someone who’d gone through hell and back.
Look at this hilarious photo that contrasts this cute boy as he sets off for school to afterward what he looks, quite frankly, exhausted.
In fact, it’s equally as stressful for the parents as well. Luckily, here are some tips and strategies that you can use to get through to make your kid’s first day and the first week of learning a positive one.
Following are 6 Tips For Preparing Your Child For the First Day of School
Communicate: Talk with your child about how he or she feels about school without judgment. But if he or she balks at school, patiently but firmly tell him/her why he/she must go: to obtain an education and because it’s a legal obligation.
Understand: Don’t underestimate your child’s fears. Don’t say “It’s silly to feel that way.” Honor your child’s feelings.
Problem Solve: Work as a team with your child—he is not alone in this. Say, “Together we are going to figure out how to make things better for you.”
Boost Confidence: Build your child’s self-worth by celebrating his or her unique character and talents to help them cope with and handle life well.
Believe: Believe in your child’s capacity to deal with problems and overcome adversity–your belief in him will help him succeed.
There are great tips.
