For many netizens, the pictures were a major challenge to traditional approaches to pregnancy in China where exercise is avoided and mothers-to-be move very carefully throughout the day.



Despite being pregnant for 7 months, Tao Xinran, who plays An Ling-rong in Empresses in the Palace, is still practicing yoga. And she says, “ Yoga really helps me breathe and relax, which in turn can help me adjust to the physical demands of my pregnancy, labor, birth, motherhood.”
